Guest Writer #99: “Dating ideas” by Katie Sykes

  • July 25, 2011 at 11:40 pm

My last guest post was all about finding some interesting alternative date ideas, straying away from the usual dinner date or coffee shop. Now this was a few month ago, because since then, I have found myself in the company of a lovely gentleman, who as it happens is rather agreeable to alternative dating activities.

Guest Writer #98: “DON’T DATE A POET!”

  • July 25, 2011 at 11:35 pm

Before I was an active Poet, I was pretty much a full-time babysitter. I worked my 9-5 all week, took classes in Grad School, and I took care of my baby nephew at least four days a week. I pretty much raised that child for about four years before I started doing ANYTHING for myself. Still, we have to take into account all the places I was going while I wasn’t hanging out-school, bookstores, grocery and drug stores, work, etc…all places where I COULD have met men, but really didn’t, or when I DID, they just didn’t work for me. Plus, I was at the tail end of my first major relationship which lasted nearly ten years and all of my adult life at that point.

Gigi gives up

  • July 19, 2011 at 12:06 am

Gigi gives up on dating… her 5 month relationship ended in April, when she found out he was talking to women on dating sites behind her back… Then after Gigi decided to give one more chance, all she found were four men in a row who lied to her, were players, cheaters, losers, and one incredible crazy psycho. Oh it is also time for her ex-boyfriends to pop up for one more chance… which Gigi will NOT give them… So now what? Gigi is going to spend her summer watching movies and tv show reruns, reading books, cleaning her house, and spending her afternoons/ writing her Gigi stories and will try to get them published once and for all.

Love Stinks indeed!!

Guest Writer #97: “Unemployed Romance?”

  • July 18, 2011 at 8:53 pm

We’ve already discussed plenty of ways to date inexpensively this summer. Most of the best dates don’t have to cost a dime. However, what happens if an unemployed man asks you on a date, or the man you’re dating becomes unemployed? I posed this question to a group of my girlfriends and it was a very interesting and enlightening discussion.
Many of the ladies said that there were a lot of important questions that come into play. Namely, why is the man unemployed? How long has he been unemployed? Is he trying to gain employment? Does he expect you to foot the bill? How do YOU feel about footing the bill? Does he treat you well in the relationship?

Guest Writer #96: “Aphrodisiacs: Fact or Fiction?” by Leon Harris

  • July 13, 2011 at 9:08 pm

For centuries people have espoused the ability of certain foods to stimulate a sexual appetite; you’ve probably heard that such diverse items as oysters, chocolate, truffles, caviar, alcohol (especially champagne), and even asparagus will have you and your honey ready to hit the lights and roll in the hay post haste. And while there may or may not be some veracity to these claims of performance enhancements (due to certain elements like enzymes, hormones, or even just an arousing flavor), you might have to consume quite a bit to get the intended results. However, there are also plenty of herbal supplements said to produce the same effects.

Guest Writer #95: “Summer Romance with Little Finance!”

  • July 13, 2011 at 9:05 pm

It’s Summertime! It’s hot. Gas is high. The economy is down. What little money you have, you’re blowing on turning the A/C up at home-if you’re fortunate enough to HAVE A/C. Still, you wanna get out this summer and spend some time with someone special…or maybe a few special someones. Well, gentlemen, I talked to a few of my girlfriends, and we have agreed to some er…uh…ways to date on a discount! Men tend to think that women of today expect them to spend a lot of money for a date, but what’s most important to us as a whole is the quality of the time spent, and the creativity of the guy.

List of Dating Activities #22: Couples Only

  • July 5, 2011 at 9:11 pm

Here are some great ideas for dating activities from

Get two cameras, and spilt up. Take pictures of places that bring back good memories of times together. Or take pictures of places that describe qualities of the other person. For example, if the person is sweet, take a picture of your local candy store. Once you’ve had the pictures developed, compare them over dinner, while recalling fond memories you’ve had together.
