Guest Writer #68: “Using Facebook to Meet Your Potential Partner” by Debbie Lamedman

Here is the latest article written for us by Debbie Lamedman, who is becoming a regular guest writer, and one of Gigi’s favorites… Gigi has little time to write these days, what with dating one man only, working, and tutoring. But I promise to dedicate more time to the blog next week, when I am on break, and on vacation… in my backyard!!

Back in olden times before social media was the phenomenon it currently is, people who were interested in meeting members of the opposite sex for dates and such asked their friends to help set them up with a potential compatible partner.  Now we are inundated with online dating, Dating services.org matchmakers and dating websites and though there are many success stories from these outlets, no matter how you look at it, we’re still being set up on blind dates.

If you are one of the many single people who may have lost hope that you will ever find Mr. or Ms. Right, it’s time to take advantage of the technology so  many of us now take for granted. Though you may have hundreds or even thousands of so-called friends on Facebook, why not tap into the connections of some of your real friends (not your acquaintances) and get set up with someone new the old-fashioned way? Let your Facebook friends help you find your perfect match.

This isn’t exactly an original idea.  People have been hooking up through Facebook since it began.  But instead of looking for hotties by pilfering through all the people on your friends’ profile, ask the people that you actually know on Facebook to set you up with their single, mutual friends.  It may be safer, more effective and seemingly less desperate to have your mutual friends introduce you to the man or woman of your dreams.

You don’t have to pay a large fee for some expensive dating site.  Just get by with a little help from your friends.  And social networking!
