Here is this week’s list of dating activities… Gigi is saving up all these ideas in her head, and as soon as it gets warm enough for her and Jonathan to leave their wonderful fireplace, they will put these into action. If you are lucky enough to live somewhere warm, or do not mind the cold, then go for it, and let us know how it went!! These ideas come to us from a great website Coolest Dates

Special Occasions

Volunteer to assist in a community event, such as Special Olympics, March of Dimes, telethon, or local festival.

Make a set of building blocks for a less fortunate child. Blocks can be made with scraps of wood. Have someone cut out various shapes on a table saw (don’t do this yourself unless you have experience). With your date, sand and paint the blocks. On a subsequent date, wrap the blocks in gift paper, put them on someone’s porch, ring the doorbell, and run. If you want a really good feeling, swear each other to secrecy (don’t tell anyone else about this act of service).

Visit a nursing or retirement home and talk to people about “the old days.” Take notes and use the most interesting story to make a booklet from construction paper. On another date present the booklet to the person who told the story.

For an anniversary, plan a picnic and afterwards, go for a walk to “discover” surprises at stops along the way. Enlarge a portrait of you and your date, make it into a puzzle, and leave pieces along the path, together with a rose and note at each piece. It is romantic and a great way to surprise your date.

Take pictures over an extended period of time and then make a slide show presentation. Or request childhood pictures from your friend’s parent, so you can scan those pictures. Add fun captions to make it more meaningful.

Secretly collect little mementos of a friend. Plan a “This is Your Life” party and surprise your friend.

Go to a church dance.

Help decorate for a friend’s wedding. Or offer to collect, organize, and deliver the wedding gifts to someone’s home. Or decorate the car TASTEFULLY (no pranks). Find a way to make this day special and memorable.

Go to a parade. Afterwards, go on a picnic. End the day with fireworks. With a little planning, this could be a memorable date.

Plan a surprise anniversary party for your parents.

Is your friend an athlete? Gather newspaper clippings of his/her accomplishments. Put them in a scrapbook and spend a special evening asking about the sacrifices and work it took reach his/her goals.

Get up early and go to a sunrise Easter service.

Set up dinner on a hilltop or on a balcony with a view of the fireworks. Throw a swim party and have a picnic later. Then watch fireworks that evening..

Take an elderly couple on a drive to the canyon, lake, mountains, or nearest river. Ask them to share stories about when they grew up, courted, and married. Ask them about their family. Ask them how things have changed.

Organize a Christmas dinner and dance.

Here is this week’s list of dating activities… so much to do, so little time. Gigi is keeping these in mind… as soon as the weather warms up here, and as long as things keep going well with her and Johnathan…

Hike to a peaceful place and take time to talk about God, Jesus Christ, and your beliefs about why we are here on the earth. This is a wonderful opportunity to let the Holy Ghost speak to your heart and spirit.

For lunch, eat egg salad sandwiches. For dessert, eat your Easter candy while reading passages in the Bible.

Read scriptures or poetry around a fire. Bring flashlights.
