Long Distance Relationship Advice #8: Be patient, but watch the signs.

Be patient. This is always good advice in any relationship, but even more so in a long distance one. Sometimes one of the partners might need a little space. He or she might suddenly not be as communicative as they normally are. There can be many reasons for this: stress at work, friends visiting them, even feelings of hopelessness at being so far away from the one they love. All of this can make someone go distant. Cold. Hopefully for just a little while.

If you truly love the one that you are separated from, it might be in your best interests to simply give them that time, without hounding them for an explanation. Learn that you cannot force them to be the way you want them to be. Be patient and tell yourself that if they truly love you back, then they will return to the way they were.

If they don’t? Then maybe it just wasn’t meant to be, and it is better that you find out before you waste anymore of your time.

Gigi was in a long distance relationship many years ago. She waited for him for almost 7 years, and towards the end, she ignored the many signs that he no longer felt as he did in the beginning, and this basically resulted in a waste of many of her younger years. She will not make this mistake again. Not ever. She is in another long distance relationship again, but now she knows what signs to look for. And this time she will pay attention to them, and react accordingly.

Gigi will not take anyone for granted, and she likewise will not let anyone take her for granted ever again. The least that one can ask for when in a long distance relationship is for daily communication of some sort. In this day and age of technology, there is no excuse for going quiet. None at all.
