Poem #33: “To my future man” by Angela Nichols

This week’s poem is written by Angela Nichols… she usually writes stories, but this one is kind of in between a story and a poem, and about love and the man not met yet…. kind of like Gigi is writing these days. Gigi met Angela through Troubadour 21, and the stories Angela sent her, and then they met in person at a poetry session. They are now friends on face book, and writes quite a few comments on our blog questions.

This is a new piece I wrote….not a story, but not a poem either…

To my future man

I miss you, you know.

We were created together and I have been looking for you. I am tired.

I am curious to see how you turned out. I know I will recognize you, but who are you?
Do you have dark hair and eyes, like me?
Are you a policeman, or detective?
Do you actually LIKE reading….some guys don’t.
What about writing?
I want you to be proud of me.
I know you will “get” me.
What things will we have in common?
What differences will make things interesting?
What about music? I kind of hope you are not a heavy metal guy….I’m a bit high strung.
A lot of guys are into sports or politics, or both… Are you? I don’t mind, everybody needs “me time”.
I know you won’t mind things like my laugh….there are things about me I can not change. They are who I am.
Real love isn’t like in the movies…it doesn’t happen so neatly or quickly. I only know I will find it; with you.

Yours truly and faithfully,
Angela
