Helen’s: Month of August

  • August 21, 2010 at 11:17 pm

As the World Turns…

I told you of how I had a new chapter brewing the last time I had blogged. I met a wonderful man named Sam about three weeks ago who was tall, dark and handsome through a friend. He seemed to be a very positive person and have his life together. From what my friend had told me, he seemed to be the total package. We instantly clicked and had undeniable chemistry from the moment we met. We agreed that we were off to a running start and that we should slow down because we could both forsee everything happening…marriage, kids, the whole picture.  Everything went great for about two weeks. Yes, I said TWO weeks. And then… Continue reading ‘Helen’s: Month of August’

Top “Ten” #28: Things you should never say to someone who just had a break-up

  • August 21, 2010 at 11:14 pm

How do you deal with well-meaning friends and what they say to you after a serious break-up? We all deal with break-ups in or own way. Some of us hide away and want to lick our wounds in private, and turn away from our friends. Some of us need the company of our friends, to get out and try and forget our heart ache. Everyone reacts differently, but I think all of us have been hurt at times by the things our friends tell us after a break-up Continue reading ‘Top “Ten” #28: Things you should never say to someone who just had a break-up’

Poem #30: “Why?… Because!!” by Gigi Flores

  • August 21, 2010 at 11:13 pm

Gigi is experiencing something she has not experienced in many, many years… love at a distance, but something so strong, that it just had to come out in a poem. This poem might seem disjointed, but that’s because it was written in two parts. A before and after if you will… before and after finding hope. Poem #29: “Who loves like us” by Dimonique Boyd and Rickie Gavin

  • August 21, 2010 at 11:12 pm

The other day at Sweet Epiphany in Detroit, I heard a beautiful poem written by not just one, but two of my favorite poets, Dimonique Boyd and Rickie Gavin. I think that poems written in collaboration are so incredibly special, and this one is especially so. Dimonique and Rickie have a way of expressing their feelings into words that just blows your mind, leaving you feeling as if they’ve just described your own emotions perfectly, and so much better than you ever could have. Hope our readers enjoy this week’s poem “Who loves like us” Continue reading ‘Poem #29: “Who loves like us” by Dimonique Boyd and Rickie Gavin’

Dating Activity #28: Movie “Charlie St. Cloud”

  • August 21, 2010 at 11:11 pm

Gigi loves going to movies, whether on a date, with her girl friends, or on her own. She loves to get lost in the story, especially romantic ones, and she is very emotional and easily brought to tears. I think that chick flicks are great for dates. It makes the man look good if he takes a woman to one, since he is most probably doing it for her, which she will know and appreciate. And hopefully she will return the favor and see his favorite kinds of movies too. Continue reading ‘Dating Activity #28: Movie “Charlie St. Cloud”’

Dating Quiz #28: Is it for real?

  • August 21, 2010 at 11:10 pm

Gigi is taking quizzes these days thinking of her Jean-Claude. Since it is a very new relationship, sometimes the questions do not really all apply to them. So Gigi takes a girl’s prerogative and answers them the way she thinks it will be one day!! Continue reading ‘Dating Quiz #28: Is it for real?’

Success Story #28: Angel and Leroy

  • August 21, 2010 at 3:25 pm

Gigi loves a good romantic story, whether it is a book or a movie… but there is nothing like a real love story to make her heart melt. And she has seen some thanks to face book, and people’s updates. Some complain that people post their life story on face book, but Gigi enjoys it. It is a glimpse into other people’s lives, and if you are home alone and bored, it is something fun to do. Nightmare Date #28: Too worried to enjoy it!!

  • August 21, 2010 at 2:27 pm

Gigi went out last night with her friend (and blog fan) Shari, and her friend Marshall. Gigi had never met him before, but he already knew all about Gigi, her blog, and her sweetie pie Jean-Claude, so they had lots to talk about. They went to see Monty Python’s “Holy Grail” up on the big screen, and then out for a late dinner afterwards. Continue reading ‘Nightmare Date #28: Too worried to enjoy it!!’

Dating Tip #28: Do you have a list on what you are looking for in a partner?

  • August 21, 2010 at 2:20 pm

Have you ever made a list of what you wold like to have in your ideal partner? An actual written down list? Not a vague mental one? If not, you might want to think about it. It makes things much easier when meeting someone, at a bar or dating site. You can check off the things you are looking for, and see if that person qualifies. You can also see if there are too many negatives about this person… if he or she has nothing that is on your list. Dating Advice #28: Do you have a type of person you always go for?

  • August 21, 2010 at 2:19 pm

Do you have a type of man or woman you always seem to go for? It might be looks, nationality, race, or personality… Sometimes it seems as though you might be stuck in a rut and going nowhere because of this. It might help to try someone different, to be adventurous and explore out of your comfort level. Maybe you are still single because you have been sticking to just one type… a type that maybe is not really what is best for you.
