Gigi saw yet another romantic chick flick by herself, and had to wipe away her own tears. “Letters to Juliet” is a beautiful and sensitive romantic movie. It’s all about love. About fears. About the long lasting effect of innocent young love.
It has some truly beautiful lines, and some fine acting by Amanda Seyfried, Christopher Egan, Gabriel Garcia Bernal, Vanessa Redgrave and Franco Nero. And here’s a funny anecdote for you old timers there… Vanessa Redgrave and Franco Nero were Guinevere and Lancelot in the old 1967 musical “Camelot”, and they have been in a relationship ever since. In the movoie they play star crossed lovers who find each other 50 years later,
This is the perfect date movie to take your sweetie to, and wipe away her tears at the romantic parts. Franco Nero toasts destiny at the end, for bringing him back his long lost love “Grazie destino.”
When she tells him she is sorry she was so late, he tells her that “When we are speaking about love, it is never too late.”
My other favorite line was when Sophie writes a letter to Clare telling her that no one should ignore a “What if”… that “what if” could bring you a love you thought you lost years ago, and that one must have “the courage to follow your heart.”
I’m a total sucker for great romantic lines from movies, songs, or poems, and they keep my faith in true love. So if you want a truly feel good movie about neverending love, go see this one!!
