Easter is one of my favorite holidays, with signs of new life everywhere. As a child, I would wait on bated breath for Easter morning. We would get up and hunt for eggs and find our baskets with those we loved the most… family. As the years went on and my siblings went to college (we have a large Catholic family), the egg hunting stopped and eventually not even Easter baskets were given out. I couldn’t believe this… and began a tradition about seven years ago where I hid the eggs.
When the idea of it all occured to me, I didn’t realize it was going to be so much fun. I am now convinced that each night before Easter, when I run around like an idiot with a flashlight and hide hundreds of eggs in the dark, that I have more fun than the kids in our family do.
This morning as we all woke up, I made a huge breakfast. After our bellies were full, the egg hunt began. We ran around for over an hour looking over, under and in things to find the eggs that were hidden. Sidewalk chalk, flying kites and dinner soon followed our hunt… accompanied with laughter and memories of past family stories. Although it would have been nice to share it all with someone, I realized that I had the most important people around me today… and that I really need nothing else in my life right now… not even a man. I love my life, my family and my friends. Finding a man eventually is not a necessity in my book anymore. I guess, I will chalk it up as a bonus in life. Maybe it will happen, maybe it won’t. Either way, life is good. I hope you all had a great Easter.
