Most Romantic Date Ever #3: Gabriela and Miguel – Part III

Gabriela’s story continues here… This is the third part of a truly romantic relationship that she had years ago, a long distance one that ended all too soon, but was never forgotten, at least not by Gabriela.

She might have been the one to end it, but there were reasons behind it. She might regret it today, and have “what-if’s” in her mind, but she will never forget the way that Miguel made her feel.

Gabriela started writing about Miguel, intending to only talk a bout that first date together. instead it all poured out from her; the first date, that led into the second date, that led into a long distance relationship. She wrote and wrote all night long, sding bits and pieces to Gigi, giving her the idea of starting a series on romance gone wrong, on true love lost too soon, on the things we do to sabotage that special something that is rarely found, and that one regrets losing, maybe not right away, but eventually in time, when you realize just how special it truly was.

The night was filled with laughter and wine, talking about everything under the sun..

We both had been married before and we both had children. We talked about our favorite foods and all the things we disliked in the world…Political views and Religion, but not once was there a disagreement.
We talked about all the places we had lived in the world and talked about not wanting our weekend to end… you see, this was Saturday night and we both knew that our perfect weekend was coming to an end, only way too soon…

So for the rest of the night, we wasted not one minute on anything trivial, it was all about each other as if the rest of the world did not exist…

The next morning began with heavy hearts .. neither one of us wanted to leave, but the reality was that we had real lives to return to and the fairy tale was coming to an end..

So we spent what little time we had together in each other’s arms and acting like it was never going to end..

When the time came for us to say our goodbyes, I cried, and he held me and promised me that this was only the beginning, and not the end…And he was right…

Over the next month, we talked every morning before work, we would sneak in a call or two during the day (once I called him during a meeting and he made everyone leave his office, just so he could tell me how much he missed me.) We talked for hours on end at night, never wanting to hang up the phone with each other… we were both a little sleep deprived, but it was so worth it.

We had our little quirks… We would send each other “I love You” cards every day, or even little notes just saying the smallest, sweetest things. I checked my mailbox daily, just to see what he sent, and it was the idea that he spent the time to either pick out the perfect card or write the perfect little note…

Then it was time for us to finally meet again, in the same city where we had first laid eyes on each other…

So as I embarked on my long drive once again, I found myself having the same feelings as before, scared, a little nervous and curious as to how it is going to go…

We had agreed to meet at a sports bar that was next to a MLB stadium. I arrived about 30 minutes before he did, so I went on in and waited at the bar for him..
There was the sweetest elderly couple there that I started talking with. They were staying at the hotel where the sports bar was located and they had season tickets to the local baseball teams home games… They drove into town on every home game and stayed at the same hotel. It was their special time together. It came about in the conversation that I was waiting for my special someone and that it was only our second date. They thought it was romantic that we would drive so far just to see each other for a weekend.

I knew it was about time for him to arrive and I could not keep my eyes off the front door. The lady sitting next to me told me that I looked like I was about to pass out from excitement and anticipation watching the door… and then… there he was… He walked in looking around to find me, and he didn’t have the chance to look too long.. I was off of my seat and running across the floor to get to him…

The minute I reached him, he picked me up and kissed me long and passionate right in front of a very crowded bar… the people began to clap.. It was so funny. No one knew our story, but every one there who saw us at that moment, knew that we had been waiting a long time for that kiss…

As we made our way to the bar, I held on to him as if I was never going to let him go. And he held me the same way. I introduced him to my new friends and we all four sat together talking and enjoying the evening…

When it was time to leave, the couple had asked us what our plans were for the weekend, and at this point we had not made any specific plans, other than to spend every minute together. The couple then handed us their tickets for Saturday’s game. They would not take no for an answer. They told us that it was one of the most romantic stories they had heard and wanted us to enjoy every minute of it.. Well with us both being baseball fans, it was a great start to the weekend….
