When Gigi was unmasked
March 8th

OMG!! Was last night the strangest first date EVER for Gigi!! She met Roberto on a dating site last week, and they spent a few days emailing back and forth and then talking on yahoo, and then on the phone. He seemed very educated, well-read and a writer.

Gigi told him she was writing a book on dating, and she emailed him a few photos. They agreed to meet last night at a Japanese sushi restaurant, and he got Gigi to try sushi for the first time in her life… and she actually liked it!!

Now this isn’t what made the date strange. Roberto asked her about the book she was writing, so Gigi told him a little about it. And then he let her know that he had googled her the previous night, found the website where she posted her stories, and read the first 15 chapters!!! OMG!! He knew Gigi better than she knew herself. He knew about the men she dated and loved, about her sons, her friends, and about much of what she has gone through.

At first it was strange, and she did get a little upset when he brought up David (chapters 9 & 10), and that he didn’t get the attraction of David. No one can mess with David!! Except Gigi!! He said that it wasn’t just then men that confused Gigi, but that Gigi herself was confused!! He also pointed out that it wasn’t quite clear just what Gigi wanted out of a man.

So all in all, it was a very interesting date, and one that made Gigi rethink her stories. But then she realized that Roberto never read the inrotduction “When Gigi met Helen” which does explain what Gigi is looking for.

Gigi would totally go out with him again… the question is will he? Now they did talk on the phone after the date, while watching the Oscars together, and he texted her a good morning the next day. I will let you know if they ever meet gain… whether it’s for more research or for a real date!!

They only texted a few more times after this. No second date asked for, and Gigi won’t be the one to ask…

March 10th

Gigi had an ok date last night with Sam, a St. Thomas man (black), 6’5 (boy, are they getting taller, or is Gigi getting shorter?). They met on plenty of fish, talked by email and phone, and made a date after a few weeks or so (boy, it’s getting hard to keep track of them all, and Gigi is not making notes as well as she used to).

They met for dinner at Memphis Smoke in Royal Oak. He was late (Gigi hates that!!). He seemed nice, and they spent a few hours together talking. Gigi didn’t feel an instant connection, but he seemed nice, and she wanted to give nice men a chance. They shared a quick kiss at her car, and he left, a total gentleman, without trying anything (Why does Gigi prefer the naughty ones who try, and often get, more than just a kiss?).

There were no more dates for the rest of the week. She flirted with a cute 26 year old Iraqi (they really seem to like Gigi these days) at the salsa club. He thought Gigi was only 34, God bless him, but that won’t go anywhere. Gigi actually really likes Kendall, the nurse she had the great date with last week. They have been talking and texting practically every day, and he seems very interested in Gigi.

In fact, Kendall did the sweetest thing EVER!! Saturday was Gigi’s birthday, and he knew where she’d be with her girl friends. They had a date for the next night, but suddenly at 1 AM, he texted her telling her he would not be able to see her. Gigi was disappointed, but he told her he’d make it up to her. How, she asked? He then texted her that he was at the door of the club where she was at, and Gigi just flew to the door. And there he was, Sweet and sexy and gorgeous.

He met her girls, and Gigi and Kendall sat in a corner, holding hands and kissing for an hour. He knew she was going home with her twins, so he didn’t ask for anything untoward. He said he was happy just to see her, and Gigi was too. It really made her birthday extra special (already special because of her girls, but now doubly so).

But then the next day, Kendall disappeared… forever!! WTF?? Gigi will NEVER EVER get men. EVER.

Gigi even got a birthday phone call from her sailor from last summer, Julian… They had stopped talking after he ignored her on Valentine’s. He told Gigi he’d always love her, but that of course, his job and the distance kept them apart. it was nice to hear from him… but then he disappeared again!!.
