Although Kelly is very American, and does not have one single, solitary drop of Latina blood in her, she still loves all things Latino: starting with their men, of course, followed by mojitos, Cuban food and latin music: salsa, merengue, bachata, and reggaeton. Not necessarily in that order… Lol.
Gigi and Kelly had a memorable vacation in Miami once. They ate at a Cuban restaurant every day, went salsa dancing at Mango’s every night, drank more than their share of mojitos and stuffed themselves with empanadas, saw their favorite reggaeton singer Daddy Yankee live, screaming like teeny boppers when he was dangling above their heads!! Yes, above their heads… He was lowered from a fake helicopter.
Funnily enough, Kelly does NOT speak Spanish!! She used to ask Gigi what the lyrics of her favorite songs were… until Gigi began to translate them. They might sound happy and cheerful, but many are quite sad!! So Gigi no longer translates.
Gigi and Kelly actually met at a salsa club years ago, and have been best friends for the past few years. Kelly is one of the best salsa dancers that Gigi knows, and they have spent many fun nights at the salsa clubs together.
Obviously when I asked Kelly what her favorite romantic songs were, she had to throw in her favorite salsa singer.
Here are her choices:
- Any slow song by Marc Anthony
- “I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing” by Aerosmith
It took Gigi and Kelly a while to remember the name of the song, and yes, they had to cheat and use the internet!!
